Sony's latest firmware update (2.35) for the PlayStation 3 is available now. Nothing special here, as the firmware is only meant to "improve the stability of some PS3 titles." And by "some PS3 titles," Sony couldn't possibly mean GTA IV... [Thanks tipsters!]
UPDATE: It looks like this one is just software fixes, not GTA IV fixes.

Will it keep the system form lagging when i make big booms? Or drive my comet down the highway
Weird. I kinda thought that it would of been Rockstar releasing the fix, not Sony... Never heard of a fix for a game coming thru console firmware. Maybe I'm wrong... does any1 know of anything like this happening before?
Kotaku already said it wasn't for GTA IV here: [kotaku.com]
It would be funny if all the tipsters were just sending the link from Kotaku.
Maybe cross out the gta part?
Actually, they really DON'T mean GTAIV...
"I just want to clarify that this upcoming firmware update isn't related to GTA IV. For those of you who may still have an issue playing the game on your PS3, we have identified a solution that should resolve the issue. You can contact SCEA Consumer Services for support..."

Pretty sure engadget and Joystiq have talked about it not being a fix for GTAIV
How do sister sites not keep each other informed? LOL - this is NOT for GTA IV giz! Ask your sister! HAHA
I haven't had any issues loading GTA IV while signed in to PSN since the last update.
So does this latest update break media stremaing (ie MP4s) again? It's happened twice already, so I'm no "upgrading" until I know.
I've been wondering what games this HAS been for. I hope NBA Live 2008, 'cause that chops pretty fiercely when i skip out of a replay early.
I fired up GTA4 the other day and before it let me play it auto downloaded an update specifically for GTA. I haven't seen 2.35 for my PS3 yet though.
Sweet update 2.4 coming up before MGS4 hopefully!!!
I've played GTA IV for 34 hours now and haven't had any problems.....except Roman getting me into messed up situations....oh and McGreary
The PlayStation 3 needs some killer apps. GTA IV is great but not an exclusive title. Everyone is looking to Metal Gear Solid 4. I can't wait for it to drop.

I installed the update then was promptly greeted by 80010514 when trying to play Warhawk. All other games play fine. WTF?
@oopl: i wasnt too impressed with the beta. I put in a ton of effort to get in and get it working and then i played it a few times and never looked back.
I hope there is a SP demo because im not a MGS fan but my PS3 is getting sick of just playing movies so im always willing to give it a chance.
I *had* been happily playing GTA4 since the day it came out. Until I installed the 3.25 update and just like ibelli, have seen nothing but failed loads and the 80010514 error since.
Resetting the system, reformatting... none of it works because the firmware doesn't downgrade on restore. I talked to Sony today and they want me to send it in! (like it is a hardware issue or something) It seems to me, that if it was broken by software, it can be fixed by software.
I know that this has had to affect more than just me and ibelli...
Also, it brings up the problem of "required" updates. I think we should be allowed to postpone updates until they can be properly researched, and skipped if desired. A forced update just means that if they release a required software update after my warranty expires, then I will get to pay them to fix their mistake.
FWIW, this update combined with the GTA4 1.01 update have solved MY lock-up problems (60GB launch console PS3). Your mileage may vary.
